India Clenched Indo Pakistan Bilateral Cricket Series
Chennai: In the second T-20 India Pakistan Bilateral Blind Cricket Series held in Chennai IIT Stadium orgonised by Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), Pakistan bating first after winning the toss scored 179 all out in 20 overs. In reply India score 180/5 in 19.2 overs .
Mohammed Fiyaz who scored brilliant 65 of 46 balls, was a top scorer for Pakistan Mohammed Jamil gave good support scoring 32 runs. For India totally Blind V. Mahendar bowled brilliantly to take 5 wickets giving away 43 runs.
Ganesh Busara, B-3 Partially sighted top scored with 66 runs in 44 balls while Vikas Patel B-1 Totally Blind scored a brilliant 54 and put on 98 runs with Ganesh Busara for the 4th wicket stand to win the game for India.
Mahaendra who created a world record by capturing 5 wickets was adjudged the Man of the match for his exceptional performance.
With this victory India lead the series 2/0 with only one T-20 match to be played on 13th March @ SPIC YMCA, Nandanam.
CABI is a registered non – profit organization affiliated to World Blind Cricket Association (WBCC) and Para Olympics Committee India conducting cricket for the blind across the country. The previous parent body running blind cricket has passed on the responsibilities to Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled that was hitherto playing a very active role organising blind cricket in the South Zone. As Samarthanam’s sports initiative, a separate body – CABI - has been formed exclusively to run blind cricket across the country.
The bilateral series would set the tone for the World Cup scheduled to be held in December 2012 in Bangalore. Ten countries - Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Nepal would be taking part in this event. CABI is affiliated to World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC), which is the apex body for blind cricket. This is the first ever T-20 international cricket tournament for the blind involving several countries after such a long gap (almost 6 years).
