Nadal beats Djokovic to regain Italian Open
Rafael Nadal beat world no.1 Novak Djokovic 7-5, 6-3 on Monday to win his record sixth Italian Open title.The match, had been postponed by rain on Sunday. Nadal went immediately on the attack, Djokovic briefly switched up a gear and began to dominate the rallies but Nadal won the replayed point then held his serve to make it 5-5. and Nadal served out a 76-minute opener.
Nadal made it five games in a row when he moved 2-0 ahead in the second set and although Djokovic hung on grimly, threatening to break back in the fourth game only to mess up an easy smash, he stayed in control.Nadal immediately broke Djokovic's serve again in the second set as the Spaniard took control of the match.Nadal improved his carrer head to head record over the serb to 18-14.
Coming into this tournament on the back of an early-round exit at his home tournament in Madrid and losing his No. 2 ranking to Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal had one thing and one thing only on his mind to win the tournament.
